The maker
A quiet studio, a world of texture
Glimmer of Soul is a one-person studio making handcrafted jewelry in fine silver metal clay and polymer clay — each piece shaped by hand and inspired by the living world.

How it began
It started when I discovered that my young daughter had a talent for art. I started introducing her to a variety of crafts including beading and wire. Then I began wanting to make beads, which introduced me to polymer clay and later metal clay. The next thing I knew I was taking classes in metal smithing.
Today my daughter is an accomplished metal clay artist in her own right, and about to graduate from art school.
Over the years, I have found that putting metal clay and polymer clay together has generated my most interesting work.
Glimmer of Soul grew from that first piece. It's still growing.
Where the ideas come from
The natural world, mostly. The texture of bark, the curve of a wave, the geometry of a pressed flower or a seed head catching the light.
Botanicals, landscapes, the quiet details that most people walk past. Nature is endlessly generous with its forms.
I keep a sketchbook of things I notice. Most pieces begin there, as a small drawing, before they ever become clay.
The materials
Two clays, one vision
Fine Silver Metal Clay
Metal clay is a remarkable material — real fine silver particles suspended in an organic binder. It can be rolled, textured, carved, and sculpted like clay, then fired to burn away the binder and leave pure silver behind. Every texture, every impression, every hand-carved detail survives the firing and becomes permanent.
Polymer Clay
Polymer clay is endlessly expressive — it holds colour, texture, and fine detail with extraordinary fidelity. I use it to build form, mix subtle earthy palettes, and create pieces that carry warmth and life in a way that metal alone cannot.
Together
When metal clay and polymer clay meet in a single piece, something unexpected happens. The cool gleam of silver and the warm depth of polymer complement each other in ways that feel entirely natural — like the world they're both inspired by.
Made by hand, start to finish
Sketch
Every piece begins as a drawing — working out the form, the proportions, the details that matter most.
Shape
Clay is shaped by hand using small tools, textures from nature, and a lot of patience. Each piece is unique.
Fire & Finish
Metal clay pieces are kiln-fired to pure silver, then polished, burnished, or given a patina to bring out the detail.
Complete
Final assembly — adding findings, combining materials, and checking that every piece is exactly as it should be.
